30 Rules for the Big 30!!

Yes I am finally at that age "that shall not be named”. How time flew I have no idea and it seems to me like it was only yesterday I was celebrating my 25th. Well now that I am officially going to be an adult; I promise myself of the things that I will change now that my 20’s are OVER!!

So here I sit pondering how would I list these lessons , in  ascending or descending order and I find it appropriate and rather selfish to list them down in descending order to give some satisfaction to my soul of the lowering numbers (silly..maybe but ya am gonna turn 30 :/).

So here goes….. My Rules to Rule my 30’s.

30. You will never have enough money, so spend wisely but spend on the things you want.
29. Always learn to practice “shut up” moments.
28. Yes, work hard but toot your horn at times.
27. Not everyone you meet is nice.
26. Complete your to –do / wish list.
25. When frustration builds, listen to music. That way you appreciate so much talent that there is..
24. Wear what you want even if its not in fashion, unless its ugly.
23. Let others pamper you sometimes.
22. You cannot make someone love you. Love but carefully, take your time.
21. Don’t be afraid to cry and admit failure.
20. Be brave, get that tattoo already ( this is more like a wishlist)
19. Explore, go see the world! There is so much in this world for your eyes to see and heart to feel.
18. Don’t follow god blindly, use logic too but have faith…always
17. Time does not heal anything, you just learn to live with it. The pain always remains.
16. Read, Read, Read. You can never have enough of information and creativity.
15. Write, write, and write. Even if no one ever reads it
14. Inspiration comes at odd places and hours, don’t waste it.
13. Be cautious who you invest your energies in. Your time is precious.
12. Be kind, it may not make the world a better place..but it makes you a better person.
11. Accept that some people will always hate you and you cannot please everyone.
10. Spend time with the people who really love you. Life is short.
 9. Judge a person the right way, learn to let go of the wrong ones.
 8. Always listen ( another wishlist for my chatty self). That’s the key to everything
 7. Love kids, they grow up too soon.
 6. Ignorance is bliss, trust me!
 5. Makeover’s are not always a blessing.
 4. Cherish true friends the real ones are your family too. Cut frenemies from your life..NOW!!
 3. Reflect on yourself, change what you don’t like
 2. There is no better solace than your family. Family is everything!!!
 1. Love yourself!

See you at 40!!! :p

1 month of #100happyDays

So as promised I present the 32 days of fun filled stuff which made realise just how lucky I am. You know when you are at a point when you hit rock bottom but that tiny voice says "FIGHT", that's one this challenge happened to me.

As I prepared myself to start the challenge, my spirits soared high, birds sounded chirpy, I could hear the rustle of leaves, the cool breeze, suddenly I started focusing on the little things.

The change that I see in myself - I want to be happy..there are moments, people, memories who make you sad but to over come it is the best feeling. There were days when you want to give up  but then I am lucky I guess because there were people to cheer me on and help me get my moment.

Conclusion: i want to give happiness, I want to do it not because of a challenge but because of the love, joy and respect that I see in their eyes. i have strengthened my bonds forever now than more and I am thankful, grateful for it.

I love music, there is nothing better to make you feel happy, sad, disoriented, disappointed or nostalgic. This song is just amazing. Jess Glynn does have one of the most powerful voices today, the lyrics totally how I feel..such a connect!!

This was the first day that I had started the challenge, there were so  many that I actually could not decide till this rickshaw guy came along. In short - one of the best bumper stickers that should not be told but implemented. Even though its sad that it is supposed to be inbuilt and still is not.
haha this was the best..we are crazy people..I mean ok we all have our share of personal baggage but when we meet at lunch to quote a frnd - "we can talk about Gandhi, female problems and food etc etc in the same conversation without bouts of laughter which creates mad ambiance.

This was day two...what can I say..good food, good company and office politics discussions ..enough said!

Ahhhh weddings...its amazing that such a celebration even though it might not be yours can help you find your happy moment. The best part of wedding for me - dressing up, fun, food and dance!!

ok this had to put up..my mom is at my sisters ya..so 6 months of living without home cooked food was killing me. Thankfully I have family n friends who love me * bats lashes* and made me feel at home. My family did not let me feel alone and I ended up spending most of my time at their place which was soooo much fun!

Hehe one of those days where you have to..I repeat have to follow beauty procedures to look pretty!

Wow this is Farheen maam, always happy and she teaches you so many things, I thought i had troubles, her husband passed away in a car accident in march of this year at Holi and looking at her you see the pain in her eyes but never in her demeanor. She is still the same, not bitter or scorned and keeps joking around as if everything is fine. She still cries when we talk and am happy to share her memories, proud actually. This day she was talking about all the funny pregnancy issues and made me laugh so much.... I love her spirit!

awww office colleague bought her son to office and he could not resist my charms ..heh! Such a cute baby, remembered my own lil devils when I held him!

Spontaneous Road trip to Haridwar...wooooww..such serenity...such wonder!

Am crazy..I know ur thinking it...But yes I am..and I need more of these! look how pretty!!!!

Like you must have guessed am crazy about girlie stuff..I have this huge collection of flowers that you can put in your hair very funky very bohemic and quite good at fetching compliments.

There is nothing, I mean nothing that can take away the beauty of rural India...it's going back to your roots..literally!!

This is a friend...she is finally getting married to the guy she wanted to get married to. Such a happy day...after all the hardships...happy ending..who is not happy when they hear about happy endings!

amazing weather, good company and pakora...chai was missing...hehe

My sisters are the best. There is no question to this fact...I am lucky...my bday's coming up so guess what I like the attention and the gifts :p

My mom...miss her so much...well not for long gonna be with her sooooooonnnn

awww my school friend had a baby girl..after 30 hours of labor (halleluiah), there she was 2.9 kgs cute as a bundle and a soaring attitude hehe ...love
Mad fun with cousins...we could not stop laughing that my mamu actually had to threaten us that he will chuck us out of the car if we didn't stop.

After slogging the entire day..and completely forgetting my happy moment I called my friend in panic that I need my moment ...so we all ended up at her place, hungry and ready to dish out lots of dirt and laugh our hearts out...whhatta day!

So my cuz had been unwell for most part of her 12th and she cried like crazy when the results were declared. So to cheer her up..I thought hard and then surprised her.

I love plants and flowers, this one died completely and I (mainly) my Gardner brought it back to life...

I am skillful to say the least..one of which is making people look good...haha so gave a makeover...she is happy so was I !

How weird it is that you meet some people and instantly connect, I met Neeru as she is my cuz's aunt. Born and brought up in London but still so Indian at heart,we only met a couple of times but have connected so much its just fun when I am with her. She is a beautiful person, inside and out..been through so much and I guess that;s what makes her beautiful..she cherishes the happy times and never takes things for granted.

Meeting gari after getting yelled at, screamed and abused lol...I know I should be more regular with meeting friends but her am only one small (big) person lol...But as usual, heart to heart conversations and shopping does have its perks...what a night!

Binta masi and shreya..two of my fav people...they are just unique in their own way. Masi is just the funniest and like a best friend that you have. Shreya lol well we met in Bangalore on an event.. an we connected so well and we've been besties ever since...we have shared so much..heartaches, passions, happy moments, the birth of her baby and of course our crazy talks.

another gift...yeahhh..its MK...awestruck!!!!

Shoppping...enough said...Man the book confessions of a shopaholic..so me!!

I love my work and it shows I guess. I am very passionate about what I do...there is a sense of achievement and satisfaction I get when I see happy faces :)

hahah another one of our epic lunches,,,,lets not even got the mango pic...so much fun ...

HUGH JACKMAN!!!! * exits to dream*

Latest one...a frnd had just got back from Paris and Italy..am heading out to vacation..one day window and we use it well.. Bought a new MAC...omg I can die its so hot...amazing food..BIG CHILL will soon give me loyalty card haha and gup shup and movie...fun times

The best part about this challenge I think is that if the entire day you do not a moment which makes you happy... you want to create it!

Will see you with more next month!!!!

Ciao

Emotionally Dysfunctional Fools!!

OMG I sooo need to vent!!!!!

What is wrong with Men? I mean seriously, there is a limit to the verbal venom(oh it's cherishing femininity actually as per them) that comes out of their mouth and its even worse when it's romanticized. I mean Dear God, there is a difference in appreciating a woman and leching after everything that has breasts and a vagina.

The thin line that demarcates this is RESPECT. Yes it's ok for a girl to flirt or be witty and equally responsive to the male gender but that does not make it right to batter her, harass her and disrespect her. It does not matter if you are highly educated or a high school graduate, if you earn millions or just pass by. If you come from a hot shot family or a mediocre one. A woman demands the respect of time, space and appreciation. This says more about the men, their mentality than anything else. There is a difference between healthy sexual communication and being dirty Casanova.

There is always a polite way to build pace and hint the other person, not make her feel cheap. Being lusted after is never always a good feeling, it depends on the person who gives it and equally on the person who receives it. How you bond with that person and what your comfort level is. How well your frequencies, thought process and value systems match.

Your actions always speak louder than words. Saying that you are a decent , one woman kinda man etc etc bla bla does not hold true when you are coveting any and everyone. Being rude, non responsive and acting like a Mr.know it all, does not conceal what you truly are. Apologizing on the other hand is like a concept that is not even an integral part of their system.

Education it seems has only empowered women and the male ego is still like a rabid disease. It takes an actual MAN to stand up for a woman, to love her and appreciate her the right way. One of the best ways is to give her the reassurance by admiring her the right way for her abilities and not how she looks.

Many self proclaimed romantics think its always easy to sweet talk girls maybe to reaffirm their masculinity. Trust me for real women that is such a turn off. Most often that's how these so called metro sexual men are...agreed some women like the attention and some want it badly. But what these men need to know is to only restrict their activities to such women.

Honestly, are there any decent men left?

Until next time,
Single and Waiting

Unknown!

This new feeling,
Don't know what it is,
Makes me sad, makes me happy,
Makes me feel alive again.

I do get scared,
What if it doesn't work,
Preparing myself to see,
Grim and the dark beneath.

A little happiness is what we all seek,
No demand just a humble request you see,
Long suffering upon your heart bestowed,
Just once make me feel, let me know.

Show me how it is,
To live your life without any regret and pain,
With no hidden agendas,
No secrets and no shame.

Let me for once be me,
So I can feel the wind and the breeze,
To see just how amazing it feels,
To be alive and fly indeed!

Travel Monologue

A breath of fresh air as you travel through the old country side in India. You see a glimpse of lifestock, going about their regular work. As I go down the narrow lanes I see two kids drawing water from the handpump. I look and receive a smile which says a thousand words.

I see a young man dreaming of the life he wants. A kid picking stones of the street to play. The elderly grouped together sitting on a charpai contemplating and busy in discussions. Women folk doing their household chores.

The fact is that the serenity is lost somewhere in city life. There are no bageeche filled with gigantic trees to climb on. No lush green fields to run in. No time to stop and admire the beauty that there is filled in this country.

There is loads of good the bad, the barren and prosperity. All rooted together. I think to myself how would it be like to live your entire life in this peace driven habitat. I am left with this thought but the thirst to explore more.

An ode to Motherhood

My mum...is the best. Ya I knw everyone thinks the same way about their mom. But I knowww so.

Through all the hardships that she has gone through. With my dad's postings all over, how she single handedly raised three girls. Its not easy being a single parent. She did that with work, taking care of us and home.

How much she gave up for us to be who we are tdy, that will remain with me forever. Fulfilling all our wishes even before we spoke of them. Making sure we were exposed to creative outlets to make us adept in almost everything.

Even though I might fight with her. She is my soul, her essence runs through my blood. There is so much I want to tell her and I will so, but the words that I wanna say most are - I love you!!

You are the reason I am what I am. Your encouragement, trust and faith in me drives me to get where I want to be. How I love your laugh or that I find serenity in your hugs. I love you mom!!

Life

Life waits for no one,
You have to keep pace,
Cause if you miss a step,
You'll end up last in the game.

Up's & down's, happiness & saddness,
Are the pawns in this great chess game,
You need to figure out your moves,
If you want to exist and prevail.

We meet so many people,
But how many do we remember,
We make so many memories,
But how long do we treasure each.

Life is the greatest teacher,
Wants nothing in exchange,
It only paves the way,
For you to be who you want to be one day.

Life grants so much,
Be it good or bad,
It's upon the choices we make,
Which decide the wrong's & rights in the end.
